Houdini is undoubtedly powerful, but the learning curve is STEEP. As a 3D generalist, I found myself spending a lot of time learning the VEX language and the intricacies of the procedural workflows. While the simulations are top-notch, and the control over parameters is unparalleled, the software is resource-intensive and requires a robust workstation. The price tag is also a barrier for independent artists or small studios.

As a Technical Director, Houdini is the backbone of our pipeline. The ability to create complex procedural assets and simulations with complete control is invaluable. The scripting capabilities and Python integration allow for seamless automation and customization. The support from SideFX is also excellent, with a vibrant community and comprehensive documentation. Houdini enables us to push the boundaries of what's possible in 3D animation.

Houdini's procedural generation tools are fantastic for creating detailed game environments. The ability to create assets that can be easily tweaked and iterated on is a huge time saver. However, exporting assets for game engines can sometimes be a bit tricky, and requires some optimization. Overall, a solid choice for game developers looking to streamline their asset creation workflow, despite its high initial cost.

Marvelous Designer has completely revolutionized my workflow for creating realistic clothing for my character models. The simulation engine is incredibly powerful, and I love the control I have over the fabric properties. The ability to import patterns and customize them within the software is a huge time-saver. Definitely worth the investment for serious 3D artists.

It's good, but could be better. Marvelous Designer is great for creating clothing assets, but the learning curve can be steep, especially for users new to pattern making. I found the initial setup and simulation process a bit cumbersome. While the results are fantastic, the software can be resource-intensive, impacting performance on larger, more complex projects. Optimization is needed.

As a fashion designer transitioning into 3D, Marvelous Designer has been an amazing tool. The ability to translate my physical patterns into virtual garments is seamless. The real-time simulation allows me to see how the fabric drapes and moves, making design adjustments much easier. The integration with other 3D software is a huge plus for incorporating these designs into visualisations.

Marvelous Designer is essential for my animation workflow. The clothing simulation is top-notch, providing realistic movement and wrinkles that add so much to my character animations. The ability to adjust fabric properties, add details like buttons and zippers, and export seamlessly to my animation software makes this an indispensable tool. I'm consistently impressed by the level of realism I can achieve.

As a 3D artist, 3ds Max is my go-to software. The modeling tools are incredibly versatile, especially the modifier stack which allows for non-destructive editing. The integration with Arnold renderer is seamless, producing stunning visuals. It's a powerhouse for creating complex scenes and animations. While the learning curve can be steep, the results are well worth the effort. A solid choice for professionals.

3ds Max is decent for game asset creation. The polygon modeling tools are robust, and the UV unwrapping features are quite good. However, the performance can be a problem with larger scenes, especially when dealing with high poly counts. The price is also a significant factor. I've experienced occasional crashes that can be frustrating and sometimes the support could be more responsive.

For architectural visualization, 3ds Max is a strong contender. The ability to import CAD files directly is a huge time saver, and the lighting tools are excellent for creating realistic interior and exterior renders. The integration with various plugins also enhances its capabilities. The subscription cost is quite expensive though, but the features and the final output make up for it.
